This overview outlines the purpose, requirements, and best practices for completing the Government Unpacking Certification Report on all government moves. Proper completion ensures compliance, supports billing, and protects both the moving team and the member.

Purpose:
Document unpacking services provided at the destination, confirm member acknowledgment, and enable accurate billing and revenue distribution.

1. Mandatory Requirements:

  • The unpacking certificate is required for all government moves.

  • Must be completed at the destination during unpacking.

  • Effective as of April 2023 under the renewed government contract.

2. Service Scope:

  • Put-away services (placing items into cabinets or drawers) are not included.

3. Responsibility & Liability:

  • If the crew unpacks any individual item or single carton, the responsible party is liable for all packed items claimed in case of a claim.

  • Members may refuse unpacking services, but must:

    • Complete the certificate indicating refusal.

  • Atlas Canada is not responsible for debris disposal or any loss/damage discovered by the member during unpacking.

4. Documentation & Compliance:

  • The unpacking certificate must be signed by both the member and the crew.

  • Must be scanned into Atlas Canada within 10 days of delivery/unpack.

  • Without a completed certificate, Financial Services cannot process billing or distribute revenue.
